This simple green based plastic drinker is handy for providing chicks and young birds with a good water source. The white semi transparent dome allows you to keep an eye on water levels and also shows dirt and bacteria very clearly. Solway Modular Nipple System

This new modular nipple system is great for game and poultry rearing sheds. Designed to be simple to set up, the nipple tubes simply slot together and fit easily to the regulator and level tube. The regulator needs to be joined by a hose to a header tank at low pressure to prevent leakages or drips. A good guide is to look at the level tube, which contains a red bead which should sit at the height of the water level in the header tank.

The nipples are in the traditional 180 degree style, and a detachable drip guard prevents spillages. The nipple system should be suspended above birds at the appropriate height, and this is easy with the suspension loops which are fitted to every nipple joint. We recommend that you run a metal bar through the support loops, particularly through the joints which support the regulator and the first section of nipple pipe.

We supply this drinker in modular kit form, which includes three nipple sections providing a total of six nipples, a regulator and a level tube end fitting - everything you will need to get started. We will also be selling all of the composite parts (including individual nipple sections) so that you can build up a system to suit your own requirements. We can also supply right angled joints so that you can build rectangular shapes as needed.

Gemini HLC80 Mains / Battery Energiser

The fact that the Gemini HLC80 energizer can be run off batteries or mains electricity makes it a superbly versatile unit. Suitable for smaller electric fences in any location, the British made Gemini is capable of packing a powerful punch when run on batteries and offers a cheap way of protecting poultry and gamebirds for the smallholder when run off mains electricity.

This energiser comes complete with easy to use crocodile clips, and many of our customers comment on how easy it is to set up and run.

To run the Gemini from mains electricity, the energiser should be kept indoors and connected to the fence or netting using a Lead Out Cable. We provide these cables in lengths of twenty five metres, and they are very easy to set up and install. Solway Feeders has found that it costs approximately 0.003p per day to run the HLC40 on mains electricity.

As far as batteries go, the Gemini requires a 12 volt 85 amp leisure battery, which is not provided with this unit. Mamba is the new brand of poison from Solway Feeders. It is suitable for dealing with mice and rats, and the active ingredient (bromadiolone) is an advanced anti-coagulant. Bromadiolone is designed to work effectively against rodents which have built up a resistance to first generation anti-coagulants such as warfarin, and this poison is sure to make a big difference to any infestation of pests.

For mice, use approximately 10 grammes of blue Mamba whole wheat in bait stations about five metres apart, which should be reduced to roughly two metres in high infestation areas. For rats, use about 50-500 grammes in stations which are about ten metres apart, reducing to five metres in areas of high infestation.

If you require more Mamba Poison, we can supply it in containers of 3Kg, 10kg and 20Kg.

Supplied with 3 keys only, if you require spares they are available at extra cost.

This new Hotline 12v electric fence energiser uses solar power to improve its operational life and extend the time between charges. The heavy duty 36a/h battery is topped up by a 10 Watt positionable solar panel, which, in good sunlight, keeps the battery topped up for a very long time.

In poor weather conditions, it may be necessary to recharge the battery periodically from mains power, but the battery is strong enough to run for sixteen days without any sunlight whatsoever.

Solway Pheasant Pophole

This easy to assemble modular system makes light work of constructing a pophole for your pheasant release pen. The system is made up of four seperate components, consisting of a collapsible box tunnel and three hinged panels. Each component comes flat packed and unfolds into position.

To install, simply cut a rectangular hole into the fence at the desired location, position the box tunnel on the inside edge of the fence (plastic ties are supplied to attach it to fence) and peg down the rear panel.

Insert the middle stake, join the two front panels to the stake and attach the stake to the fence with the supplied cable ties. The whole job should take no longer than ten minutes, and the only tools required are a wire cutter for the fence and a hammer.

The Solway Self Feed Hoppers are a basic but reliable method of feeding game birds and poultry, and this item can hold 40Kg of wheat or pellets.

This trap has undergone considerable development over the past few years, and we are now confident that this method of catching foxes is a realistic alternative when other methods prove unworkable.

The gate mechanism and solid surround to the entrance look somewhat stronger than they need to be, but our experience tells us otherwise. Mr Fox tests everything to the limit, so be to be sure of a reasonable life, the trap has been given battleship strength.

Our unique side entry mechanism uses the natural inquisitive nature of the fox to entice them into the trap. The substantial door is triggered by a treadle plate and held firmly shut by a slam bar.
